Fighting fans everywhere are twiddling their thumbs in anticipation for the early 2016 release of Street Fighter V on the PlayStation 4, but some people -- outside of big-name tournaments -- have been lucky enough to play the title at certain events, such as the Community Effort Orlando in Florida. Fortunately, lucky theme park attendees will also have the opportunity to play the game before release, even if for a short period. Where, exactly?
Surprisingly, at Six Flags.
Today, Capcom has announced its partnership with Six Flags Entertainment Corporation in order to bring unique Street Fighter attractions to participating Six Flags, beginning this month. Guests will have the opportunity to play the newest Street Fighter entry at participating theme parks, with the first Street Fighter V at Six Flags experience opening at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, CA July 2.
For those that can't attend that particular attraction, here is the full list of locations and dates:
July 2 - July 7
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, CA
July 4 - July 7
Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, TX
July 6 - December 31
Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA
July 13 - July 19
Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, TX
July 27 - August 2
Six Flags Over St. Louis in Eureka, MO
Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell, GA
August 10 - August 16
Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL
Six Flags America in Bowie, MD
August 24 - August 30
Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ
Six Flags New England in Agawam, MA
The attraction itself will feature custom Street Fighter V-skinned gaming pods and/or kiosks that offer playable demos for everyone. On top of demoing, eight-person single-elimination tournaments of Street Fighter V will be held on Saturday at Six Flags Magic Mountain and on Saturdays and Sundays everywhere else, complete with sweet prizes.
It's awesome, yet strange, to know that Street Fighter V, a video game centering on beating the living crap out of each other, will arrive at Six Flags of all theme parks. Would this give way to more video game demos showing up at theme parks? Or perhaps, even better: a sign of video game arcades making a comeback!
Street Fighter V will arrive next year for the PlayStation 4 and PC and will include a vast roster of characters we know and love, along with added moves and mechanics that is sure to please Street Fighter fans everywhere.
