A modern piece of retro horror is taking the asymmetrical fray soon. Netflix has announced that their hit show Stranger Things will be introduced to the popular multiplayer horror game Dead By Daylight.
The announcement trailer, which acts more like a teaser than anything, is nothing more than a 45-second clip of the show's first antagonist, the Demogorgon. But the end splash screen reveals greater detail about the cross-over.
The Demogorgon will be a new playable killer, show characters Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler will be playable survivors, and the Hawkins National Laboratory: The Underground Complex will be a new map.
In Dead By Daylight, a number of players, known as the survivors, are trapped in an area and are tasked with escaping. Meanwhile, another player, acting on their own, is controlling a killer who has to kill all of the survivors before they can escape. The game plays on traditional horror tropes.
The game is no stranger to classic horror cross-overs either. They've introduced a number of other IPs to the game, such as The Grateful Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, Saw, Halloween, and so on.
The Stranger Things content will be added to Dead by Daylight sometime in September for both PC and consoles. Official pricing for the DLC has not been announced, but we expect it to be about $7.
