If you're a PC gamer and a fan of visual novels, you've probably been rejoicing over the fairly recent launch ports of fan favorites such as Danganronpa, Xblaze, and Amnesia: Memories. And now, we can add Steins;Gate to the Steam visual novel list.

Yes indeed-y, on September 9, 2016, 5pb.Games and MAGES.INC announced the release of Steins;Gate on Steam. What coincides with the launch is a 15 percent launch discount.

Now, I've heard of this title - admittedly, I want this in any game library I have access to - and the premise is actually quite captivating.

Basically, a group of tech-savvy students have discovered a way to change the past via emails and a modified microwave. After some playing around, they become swept up in a conspiracy revolving around SERN, an organization behind the Large Hadron Collider. These youths also happen to encounter a mysterious John Titor, who states that he's from a dystopian future...

Anyway, the selling point of Steins;Gate is the "phone trigger" system - players receive calls and text messages, which can be replied to or not, ultimately affecting the outcome of the game's plot.

Now, here is what the Steam version will feature:
  • HD 1080P - Yes! HD graphics and illustrations? Sign me up!
  • Phone Trigger System - Okay, so this system is included in the other versions, but you can interact with Rintaro's cellphone. You'll be able to do the following:
Answer calls
Ignore calls
Send emails

Of course, what you do definitely affects the game's plot!
  • Reading Length - As the cherry on top, expect between 30 and 50 hours of reading time.
I can see why it has won awards.

Steins;Gate is now available on Steam for $29.74 until September 15; after that, it will be $34.99.
