Steam's Summer Sale has Begun

It's as if millions of wallets suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

It's that time of year again. Well, one of those times of year, I suppose I should say. The warmer but less festive brother of the Steam Holiday Sale has arrived. That's right, it's Summer Sale time! It's "there's a video game drought this time of year, so I better catch up on some of the games I've missed over this past year" time. And, of course, it's "I just replaced the tires on my car and am finally in control of my credit, but oh well, my kids don't need to go to college," time. So you should write a eulogy for your wallet, make friends with a loan shark, and kiss your bank account goodbye. Or should you?

Summer%20Sale.jpgThis time, it really will be a picnic.

I may be beating a dead horse here, but what else would I do with a dead horse? Bury it? That requires, like, a huge hole. I don't even own a shovel. What am I supposed to do, use my hands? That's ridiculous. You're ridiculous. But anyway, I've discussed my loss of enthusiasm for Steam's sales before. They changed their structure last year to a "only one set of discounts all sale long," and I'm still all salty about it. I'm apparently in the minority on this, as they've seen much success from the switch. I just long for the days when the sales were fun and interesting. I miss discussing the deals with my friends.

"Should I go ahead and pick it up now, or do you think it will be cheaper tomorrow?"

"Oh no! I missed the Secret of the Magic Crystals sale! I hope it will be up on encore day! I'll keep my eye on it!"

Those may not seem like fun conversations, but they were a blast. Regardless, I understand I'm being hard on Steam. Change is sometimes hard, but it's not always bad. So I'm going to dive in, take a look, and let myself have some fun spending money. Who's with me?
