Steam and Windows Store Versions of Infinite Warfare Cannot Cross-Play

If you ever needed another reason not to use the Windows Store...

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, as I've said just the other day, doesn't have that much going for it. Sure, the new single-player mode might be a good selling point for people in the hardcore crowd, and Halo fans who aren't picky about where they get their sci-fi action will probably be pretty happy with it, but for the average CoD fan, well, this has proven to be something of an Exodus... at least, so far. It's possible in a week Activision will brag about its record-breaking sales, but right now? The reviews are surprisingly glowing, but if that will translate to better sales is anyone's guess.

Anyway. Good reviews or not, this next bit of news probably won't help: if you plan on playing the game on a PC, and you so happen to have a Windows 10, I have bad news - your game doesn't support cross-play.

No, not just cross-play with consoles... cross-play with other versions of Windows. So if you have a friend on Windows 8, or 8.1, then you two will not be able to play the game together. But it gets worse: if you happen to buy the game on the Windows Store, rather than say, Steam, then you won't be able to play with anyone who has a Steam copy of the game: you can only play with Windows 10 Store players online. Which, I shouldn't have to tell you, is a very small percentage of gamers.

This is, of course, a really big problem. You probably shouldn't be buying games on the Windows Store anyone, but for unfortunate souls who have already done that, well, they're about knee-deep in s@#$'s creek right now. Good thing the single-player is getting such praise, because they'll apparently be playing a lot of it!
