It's been about three months since Stardew Valley released their multiplayer update into an opt-in beta for PC. Now the feature has gone live in the official PC build, and is already on its way to consoles.
Most of what we saw in the beta will be kept in for the official release. You can invite up to three friends onto your farmland as hired hands. Each player is free to farm, build, and even marry as they see fit (including each other!). The only thing you have to share is farmland and profits. It's not about who can be the richest farmer but about working together to make something greater than you could alone. To celebrate the update's release, publisher Chucklefish has released a new trailer.
The update includes a new chat system for better communication, as well as a number of smaller, non-multiplayer related updates.
The multiplayer update is available now on PC, Linux, and Mac. Chucklefish has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch version of the game will be getting the update next, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. No specific date or time frame was given, however.
