It's been a long and teasing process, but the Stardew Valley Multiplayer is finally here, almost. The feature has arrived to the opt-in beta setting for the game to anyone owning a copy of the game on PC.

The long-awaited multiplayer feature, as well as a number of single-player features, have been added for testing with the latest update. To play it yourself, you need to activate the beta version of the game on Steam.

With the update, you and four others can team up to work on your farm. All four players will work together on farming, mining and festivals. The difficulty settings can even be set independently, which divides up profits accordingly. Visitors can even court and marry NPCs from the host town, or even each other.

Multiplayer is the big thing everyone is waiting for from this update, but a number of single player changes have been made as well. Horses can now wear hats, a Winter Festival has been added, and some new winter items have been added. Some new cutscenes have been thrown in, but you'll have to see what they are yourself.

Publisher Chucklefish has provided an official instruction of how to participate in the beta testing:

1. Log into your Steam account

2. In your Games Library, right click on Stardew Valley

3. Select Properties → Betas (see: https://imgur.com/a/H1gH4)

4. Enter the Beta access code jumpingjunimos and press Check Code

5. After this, select the beta branch option on the Beta selection drop down list above

If you have any problems with gaining access or experience any bugs, email us at contact@chucklefish.org

This will help discover new bugs to fix, as beta tests do. Once they've been resolved, the update can be expected to launch formally on PC, and with any hope, on consoles. No word on when either of those would be.
