Given their rabid fan base and critical success, it’s only a matter of time before the company ventures out to try something new… or at least, as new as such a niche company is capable. And while it’ll probably be a long time before we know exactly what this new title will be, CEO Finn Brice made no secret of the fact that such a project is in the works… and even hinted as to what kind of game it might be, with one simple sentence:
"Stardew Valley meets Harry Potter"
That’s probably enough to make most people’s mouths water. A wizardry school simulator with a colorful cast of people to fail to seduce? Sign me right up.
He gave us one last preview over Twitter on exactly what we might expect:
SDV still in testing, no news yet. Thought this sneak peak might tide you over. We've learned a lot of lessons from working with Stardew.
It comes with a screenshot showing pixel art (of course) of assorted folks standing around in a city, with more than a few wizard hats thrown into the mix.
Stardew Valley, of course, hasn’t been abandoned: We’re expecting to get the online multiplayer sometime early next year. In that respect, it seems inevitable that this particular game is very distant in the future… so why bring it up now?
Maybe there’s something here we’re missing…
