He's got needs.

I really didn’t think we’d still be talking about Stardew Valley after it was announced that the creator, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, had broken up with his former publisher, ChuckleFish. But as it turns out, there’s still a lot more life in this game, because Eric simply can’t leave it alone as he’s so inspired to make more content for it that he’s actually putting his new game on hold so he can make more updates.

I think we’ve surpassed the point of “passion” and moved on to the realm of “obsession”.

"While there have been times in the past where I felt burnt out, and maybe even said that I wanted to move on, I always find myself coming back to Stardew Valley. For one, I keep getting new ideas for ways to improve and expand upon the game. This world is so full of potential, I could probably work on it for the rest of my life.

There’s also such a wonderful community surrounding the game… and I like making you guys happy. I’m extremely grateful to all of you for supporting my work and creating this wonderful Stardew Valley community. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you. And knowing that there’s still tons of people out there who love the game and would be extremely happy to get new content motivates me to keep working."

This, of course, is good. It’s great that he wants to keep making content that makes his fans happy, but he admits as well that there're other things he needs to take care of first. He said he’s making fixing the console versions his first priority (even on the Switch, which he doesn’t directly control), and that he’s gonna pull a Toby Fox and look for some help. Help which should be easy to find, considering.

All-in-all, good news. We could always use more of that.
