Rumors and speculations should always be taken lightly, especially in the gaming community. This rumor is no different. Sometime last year, a rumor fluttered around that an HD remastered StarCraft was in development and would be announced in September of the same year. Blizzard neither confirmed nor denied this rumor, stating that "we don't have any announcements to make at this time," and that was the end of it.
September 2016 came and went, no announcement happened, and StarCraft: Remastered was never spoken of again. Until now. The rumor has yet again resurfaced via a Korean eSports website called Sports Seoul. The Korean gaming site specifically announced that StaCraft: Remastered is still in development and that we could expect an announcement as soon as a week from now.
Like all things funneled through google translate, it's a bit hard on the eyes, but still easily broken down for the most part. From what we can gather, we know that StarCraft: Remastered will offer the exact same gameplay as the original game, except with HD graphics and battle.net support. The announcement goes on to claim that the game will allow the selection of eSports broadcasters and sponsors. Taking all this information with a grain of salt, it would be awesome to dive back into StarCraft with the added support of online play, and 1080p resolution. Though I've learned my lesson about hype trains, and hype doesn't mix well with rumors. I'll stay at bay for now.
As for the authenticity of this information, well, sadly there is none. It's pretty unlikely that this is the only site to pick up on this news, and my first instinct is that it's a little too good to be true. But hey, crazier things have happened, and we can only hope I guess. Here's to hoping that Sports Seoul is a reputable source.
