It's official. Earlier during Nintendo's E3 Direct, hawk-eyed audiences may have caught the site of Star Wolf in the Wii U exclusive Star Fox Zero gameplay trailer. Since then, it has been officially confirmed that Star Wolf will return.

According to game designer Yusuke Hashimoto's tweet:

"Star Wolf WILL return in StarFox Zero."

Star Fox Zero is being developed in partnership with PlatinumGames--yes, the same developer who is working in collaboration with SE to create the NieR sequel that I won't shut up about--and will release later this holiday.

In case you don't know, Star Wolf is a mercenary group led by Wolf O'Donnell, who sided with Andross before Andross' destruction in Star Fox 64. They commit several crimes, and are Star Fox's rivals. So they will be back, probably as his rivals. I don't imagine them ever shifting for the greater good.

Star Fox Zero will release exclusively for the Wii U this holiday.
