Star Wars: Battlefront is still a hot topic, kinda, and to help keep interest purrin’ and that cash flow comin’, DICE and EA have made two different announcements surrounding the game: the first, and easiest to report on, is a new trailer for the upcoming expansion, Star Wars Battlefront: The Outer Rim.

Two new heroes, a new mode, called Extraction, four new maps, and a whole host of new weapons and star cards--exactly what this game needed at launch to keep people from calling it a gigantic rip-off. Still, it looks fun, in the same way the original game looked fun, and it might be enough to keep people coming back to battle in a galaxy far, far away.

But there’s another chunk of news. Something a little more interesting.

See, if you recall, the PlayStation VR recently had its release date and its cost released to the public: which is nice and swell and all, but there’s still one little complication. Namely, a VR system is only as good as the games you can actually play on it. Sony promised 50 games to be released on it before the end of 2016, but we weren’t sure what games those would be.... Until now.

As it turns out, Sony has contracted DICE into making a VR version of Star Wars Battlefront for use on the PlayStation VR, which they revealed at this year’s GDC. Now, that’s neat as balls, but sadly, there’s still a lot we don’t know: will the content be the same as the normal edition of Battlefront? Can you only play with non-VR users? When will it be released? We know the answer to none of these. All we know is that this will be Sony exclusive, so there’ll be no Oculus Rift Star Wars Battlefront players out there.

Things are bound to get interesting…
