I bring exciting news regarding Star Wars Battlefront 2! No, not the upcoming first-person shooter by DICE and EA games. I'm talking about the 2005 smash hit for Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC. And what do you know, it's getting an update.
Now, normally I would be confused as to why anything in a 12-year-old game would be considered newsworthy, but a few days ago, I wrote about an 18-year-old game getting an update. This update means much more than that one did.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be getting its multiplayer functionality restored by GOG Galaxy, the go-to game client for GOG games. Not only that, but crossplay has also been implemented to coincide with Steam multiplayer as well. So now you can return to the exciting 64-player battles in one of the most critically acclaimed multiplayer shooters of all time. While the game normally goes for $9.99 on either Steam or GOG, it is currently 60 percent off at the GOG store for a whopping $3.99.
This game is old enough that it should be able to run on just about anyone's computer nowadays, and the multiplayer community is about to be bustling with activity, so if you've never experienced Star Wars Battlefront 2, then now is the absolute best chance.
