EA's biggest-budget disappointment, Star Wars Battlefront, was no stranger to controversy. While there were a lot of problems with the game (a lack of content, lots of DLC, appearing rushed), perhaps the biggest issue was with the lack of any single-player content. The game was designed to be played online with massive teams of players, which is fun, but a far cry from the original Battlefront games, which had robust single player modes and campaigns.
Well, Star Wars Battlefront still has that problem, no lie. But at least it has something resembling a single-player with a new offline skirmish mode, where you or your friends can come together for some straightforward vs bot action. This comes to us in the game's latest wave of changes, which were shown off in the forum's patch notes.
Also in this new patch is a change to the spawn system (two seconds instead of one, and if you spawn next to a buddy the nearest enemy has to be 10 meters away), kill assists no longer count as kills to increase your next rank trait and a whole bunch of bug fixes and balance changes. Pretty neat stuff, right?
Still, the new offline mode, while not enough to save the game, should at least give it some longevity when the servers go down, or at least until Battlefront 2 comes out, which hopefully won't be rushed and will have more 'stuff' in it.
Fingers crossed.
