The fact that Star Wars Battlefront 2 is getting an open demo isn't surprising at all: every triple-A multiplayer game typically gets one, after all. But what makes Star Wars Battlefront 2 so unique, of course, is the fact that it was the open demo for the first one that's largely responsible for the first game's success, raising hype far beyond what EA could have managed with their marketing department. So open betas and Star Wars Battlefront will always have a special kind of relationship.
It makes sense, then, that EA would have a bit of fanfare for the upcoming beta for Star Wars Battlefront 2. Like the first game, the demo is fairly limited: you can do Galactic Assault on Naboo, and a "Starfighter Assault" mode, which will be revealed in more detail at the upcoming Gamescom. The blog post announcing the upcoming beta features also hinted that more would be revealed the closer we got to the October 6th launch... how intriguing!
If you pre-order the game, you get access to the demo two days early. But it ends for everyone on the 9th. And, of course, it'll be open on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Exciting? Not so much? We'll have to let our future selves make the final decision.
