Are you a Star Trek fan?

Well, you may just be excited to know that the open beta for the free-to-play sci-fi strategy title, Star Trek: Alien Domain (not the same as Delta Rising), has begun!

This title takes place many years after Star Trek: Voyager and follows players as they take on the role of a Federation or Klingon captain trapped in an unknown realm of space. Players must protect themselves from creatures, like Species 8472, and take part in a war between the Klingon Empire and the Federation.

There has been new major additions since the alpha and closed beta, including an equipment system for starships, a boss battle mode, and a stage trials, or survival, mode. In the future, expect a new, large scale PvP mode and various improvements to equipment system.

If you'd like to sign up, you can always head on over to the official site.

Additionally, if you're interested, you can volunteer to be an official Game Helper, who will directly interact with the ST:AD community team. As a result, you will receive some in-game swag, so not a bad deal, eh?
