Look, Gamerzunite is a website all about PC Gaming.  One of our big things is LAN parties, so that should go without saying, and while we generally have a license to write about whatever’s going on in the Video Game Industry, we’d be remiss to not take any opportunity given to stroke the delicate egos of you PC gaming maniacs.

And one of the most touted trophies in the PC gamer’s arsenal would be the single most successful crowd funded project ever, Star Citizen.   Sitting at a whopping 43 million dollars, all donated by interested parties, this is a game that is going to cater to a once-forgotten and assumed dead branch of the gaming world—the Space Sim.   With all that money the developer, Cloud Imperium, is getting, they’re able to make quite the monster of a game—a monster so powerful, developer Eric Peterson promises, that playing the game on a console will simply be out of the question.

"Consoles couldn't possibly handle a game like Star Citizen.   Gaming PCs right now are formidable, with powerful CPUs and GPUs. Even next-generation consoles cannot be compared, their internal components are already older than what I could add to a gaming PC today.  We wanted to create a game that showed everyone the capabilities of PC, for those that have fun building configurations with double GPUs and liquid cooling, who no doubt were frustrated to not be able to fully use the potential of their machines."

So not only is this a game exclusively for PCs, it’s a game exclusive for people who own PC’s powerful enough to melt through the polar ice caps if you were gaming on the north pole.  That’s a pretty high barrier of entry, but then if you wanted to raise 43 million dollars to make a game you’d have to court the wealthiest people in the neighborhood, wouldn’t you?

Well, I’ll have fun watching the Let’s Plays, I’m sure.
