We recently reported on the Star Citizen Digital Ticket controversy. Now the Cloud Imperium Games CEO has responded once again, taking back their previous decision.

With CitizenCon, a convention dedicated to the popular spacefaring title in development, Cloud Imperium Games announced that the entire event would be livestreamed. They clarified that access to the livestream will cost $20, sold as a digital ticket. This led to outrage by the community, especially with those who had already supported the game's development through Kickstarter.

CEO Christopher Roberts responded to the feedback, claiming that the live stream was his own idea, and the digital ticket was necessary to cover the costs of such. This proved ineffective at deterring disgruntled fans, many of which cited other major conventions livestreaming at no cost to fans and compared this to the $6 million the game has raised through Kickstarter.

Now Roberts has responded again, undoing their previous decision and making the livestream free.

"After sleeping on this, I am going to chalk this one up to experience.

We're going to cut back on the live-streaming crew / costs but have both stages streamed for anyone with a Star Citizen user account.

Star Citizen Content Creators are welcome to rebroadcast our stream live.

If you would like to support the additional costs of streaming all the presentations, you can support the show by purchasing the CitizenCon digital goodies package (Imperators still get this as their October flair)"

The phrase "cut back on the live-streaming crew/costs" showcases that they intended for a far greater production level than necessary for the event, though this is still a step in the right direction.
