A tribute to Stan Lee has appeared in The World of Warcraft as an NPC character.

Blizzard recently implemented a small update (Patch 8.1.5) to the popular MMO, adding a new NPC to the PTR in Stormwind Keep. The character, named "Stanley," features small, round goggles, a grey mustache, and grey, combed back hair. If that doesn't make the connection well enough for you, he also will exclaim "Excelsior!"

Activision Blizzard did not make a formal announcement regarding the tribute's addition, instead letting players discover it on their own. It comes not too long after Stan Lee's recent passing.

Stan Lee is considered by most to be the father of Marvel and one of the most influential individuals in comic book history. His biggest works include Spider-Man, The Hulk, X-Men, Thor, Iron Man, and countless more. He's also known for having a large number of cameo appearances in comics, movies, and video games alike.

After the character's discovery, WoWhead.com did some digging and found the character model in 3 variations, a normal, unarmored version, a Horde armor version, and an Alliance armor version. With this character being in Stormwind, he features the Alliance armor, it's currently unknown as to where the other two models are used, if at all.
