You know what can be frightening? A horror game inspired by real events, if pulled off well. One game that has potential to do the frightening? Stairs.

Stairs, a psychological horror game developed by Greylight Entertainment, will be launching tomorrow, September 28, on Steam with a 25% discount off the SRP price of $12.99. So for those that are into psychological horror titles, Stairs is a first-person atmospheric horror title that pits you in the shoes of journalist Christopher Adams as he witnesses the disappearances of three missing people.

Stairs encompasses three stories seen through the eyes of Adams, who attempts to unravel the dark tales that carry the potential to drive one to madness. Stairs itself is inspired by real-life events "twisted into an original tale of terror, despair and sadness."

Equipped with only a camera and a journal, you need to uncover what happened to Valerie Berkley, a high school graduate, James Reed, a young businessman, and Jean Jowars Remens, a charismatic pastor.

According to Project Lead Nils Ryborg:

"Games can be really scary, but few games actually make the player uncomfortable. With Stairs we wanted to scare the players while creating stories that were not just about supernatural monsters attacking you, but instead were based on actions taken by actual humans in real life. All of the depraved and sick things you encounter in this game have their basis in reality, and the fact that the real world can be this messed up, is something we want the player to feel deeply."

With a game that focuses on immersive sound design, real-time story elements, and cleverly crafted puzzles, it's hard to ignore this type of game. Especially since it has gotten YouTube fame.
