Stadia's Launch Library is Revealed

It's 12 games strong(?)

Google Stadia, the live-service console, is due to come out on November 19th, which is a week from when this article will be published. Anticipation for this conceptual game-changer has been high, although maybe slightly less high now that it’s been revealed by Google, via Twitter, exactly what games the Stadia will host at launch.

It’s not what most would call an impressive lineup.

Wondering what games will be available to play on launch day for Stadia? Here’s our day one lineup for November 19 with more titles coming by the end of 2019. For the full list and additional details, check out our blog

While there have certainly been worse launch libraries, Stadia is only sitting at 12 games right now: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Destiny 2, Gylt (the stylish Spanish walking simulator), Just Dance 2020, Kine, Mortal Kombat 11, Read Dead Redemption 2, Samurai Shodown, Thumper, and the three games in the rebooted Tomb Raider series. As you can see, most of these games are either old or at least not terribly new, although we have been promised a trickle of new games before the end of 2019.

The other games that will be added will include Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle, Borderlands 3, Darksiders Genesis, Dragonball Xenoverse 2, Farming Simulator 19, FFXV, Football Manager 2020, Ghost Recon Breakpoint (yaaaay), Grid, Metro Exodus, NBA 2K20, Rage 2, Trials Rising, and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. A slightly stronger list, but you’ll also note that none of the highly-anticipated Stadia exclusive games (such as Orcs Must Die 3, at least for me) are anywhere on that list.

2020, at least, promises to be a bit more interesting, as Cyberpunk 2077, Doom: Eternal, Gods and Monsters, and Watch Dogs: Legion are all announced to launch on Stadia as well as more traditional platforms.

As a reminder: you can either buy games individually on the Stadia, or you can get Stadia Pro, which costs 10 bucks a month, which will net you some free games and discounts on others.
