Truth time, I bought the Early Access to Spacebase DF-9. Even in spite of my known hatred of the practice. But I was sold on it when it was described as resurrecting Bullfrog's "Theme" games. I am an inappropriately huge fan of their Theme series. I have logged an unknowable number of hours in Theme Hospital, specifically. I wager that I was probably hurt more than anyone when Tim Schafer notoriously told fans of Spacebase DF-9 to go to Hell and released the game unfinished and broken. Supposedly, Double Fine only makes games if they turn a profit BEFORE they even get released.
But I digress. Mainly because a new space station management game is coming. And it's being developed under Jim Offerman of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Tomb Raider fame. Meet Stable Orbit.
I refuse to get my hopes up, though.
Stable Orbit absolutely looks promising. It also looks damn beautiful. I am hopeful for it to blow me away, but I'm also a pessimist. Kickstarter Crook Tim Schafer's betrayal cut me deep. But I will say that I'll be keeping an eye on this. Who knows? Maybe it will reignite my faith in the industry.
