Square Enix Invites Fans to Create the Official Launch Trailer for Just Cause 3

Okay, Square Enix, you're earning brownie points lately for bringing the gaming industry closer together. Just Cause 3 is just over the horizon, and Square Enix is preparing for its launch by giving fans the opportunity to create their own trailer. Contestants will be granted the chance to create a one-to-two minute trailer that "captures all of the action, energy, and atmosphere of Just Cause 3." And yes, there is a prize behind this: a $5,000 USD prize package, which includes a 6th generation Intel Core i7 processor-based gaming rig. Prizes for best category winners will feature the latest 6th gen Intel Core processor, Neat Microphones, KRK Monitors, Cakewalk, TASCAM, and Epiphone.

The trailers will be judged within three categories: Best Action, Best Use of Audio, and Best Humor. The Grand Prize will be awarded to the Best Overall Winner, and the winning trailer will become the official launch trailer. How cool is that?

Well, according to VP Brand and European Marketing of Square Enix, Jon Brooke, on the contest:

"Just Cause 3 is a game designed with streamers and content creators in mind; a true sandbox built to be explored and played creatively. To that end, it felt right to offer our fans - who've posted over 4 million Just Cause 2 trailers to YouTube since launch - the opportunity to create our launch trailer.

It takes a leap of faith to invite your fans to make something as important as your launch trailer, but we're really excited to see what they come up with."

Here are some quick tips to keep in mind:

Contestants may use video footage provided in the online Creative Kit, or shoot entirely new footage to put together.

What will also be provided is licensed music from Razihel, either as a full track or as music stems to remix.

And for those that do not have audio editing software, you're in luck, because Square Enix has also promoted Cakewalk's SONAR Steam Edition demo, which is fully functional for 30 days.

Expect a panel of experts from Square Enix and Avalanche Studios to judge entries.
