There was a big Square Enix livestream the other day, in the same vein as a Nintendo direct, and it was pretty cool. Tomb Raider is coming to Fortnite, we saw more of Outriders, Just Cause and Hitman is coming to mobile phones, and The Avengers is getting Black Panther, which is going to be very exciting to the small handful of people who haven’t given up on it yet. But probably the highlight of the whole presentation was the trailer for the new Life is Strange sequel, True Colors. Check it:

A bold new era of the award-winning Life is Strange begins, with an all-new playable lead character and a thrilling mystery to solve! Alex Chen has long suppressed her 'curse': the supernatural ability to experience, absorb and manipulate the strong emotions of others, which she sees as blazing, colored auras. When her brother dies in a so-called accident, Alex must embrace her volatile power to find the truth – and uncover the dark secrets buried by a small town.

Life is Strange was one of the highlights of 2015, and garnished quite the cult following for its well-told story in a sleepy little town and the unorthodox characters who were at the heart of its plot. Most of the follow-ups so far have been comparatively underwhelming, so getting a new character in a new town might be the shake-up the series needs to recapture the magic of the first game.

I guess we’ll find out on September 10th of this year, when the game is set to launch. You’ll be able to play it if you have a PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, or Stadia. Kind of interesting that the last gen consoles will still be getting big budget games near the end of this year, isn’t it?

In any case, it's something to look forward to.
