Square Enix has an announcement to share with its fans today, but what could it be? Final Fantasy Insert-Mobile-Game-Title-Here? Another Tomb Raider Endless Runner? Star Ocean 5!?

Oh wait, the last one has already been announced. If you believe it to be some action RPG, or an adventure game, you are completely wrong. So what in the world is it?

Figureheads! Of course, it'd be that! So wait, what's Figureheads? Well, the oddly-named title is a mech-themed, 5v5 free-to-play strategy shooter. To best describe the gameplay, Square Enix proudly states that Figureheads will contain elements resembling that of a "robot x shooter x strategy" game. You can also safely assume that there will be plenty of customization.

Additionally, there will be a freemium model as well as micro-transactions embedded.

And that's about it. Figureheads is set for release sometime later this year for PC, but more details will be unveiled on June 10. Currently, the title is only confirmed for Japan, but a Western release may happen yet.

In all honesty, the trailer appears post-apocalyptic, action packed, and downright exciting. Unexpectedly for Square Enix (at least, inside a video game), the art screams anime-esque but is quite detailed, especially for a free-to-play game. In terms of movement, the mechs themselves act a bit slow, but the movement shouldn't deter from the "blast-worthy" combat.

Stay tuned to Gamerz Unite for further updates (June 10) on Figureheads. Until then, enjoy the trailer.
