It appears as if Pokemon GO remains to be an influence for a myriad of companies, including Eidos and Square Enix.

What exactly do I mean? Well, today, Square Enix announced the debut of Final Fantasy XIV Online GO, which focuses on the gathering aspects of Final Fantasy XIV, but in real life. That's right, you'll be gathering fish, mining crystals, and committing to botany while being outside the comfort of your own home.

Square Enix promises a thrilling experience, per their announcement:

"Final Fantasy XIV Online GO brings the thrilling experience of gathering to wherever you are, transforming your location into a literal hub of gathering nodes. With the unique combination of Square Enix's cutting-edge software and your smartphone geolocation capabilities, you can harvest in-game resources outdoors, in the real world."

And if you want the full, immersive experience, Square Enix has provided enthusiasts with an optional tool called the Harvesting Stick, which looks strikingly similar to the selfie stick, but the difference is that it is sturdier - designed for gathering on the go.

"We are working with a Japanese design company who have created a state of the art accessory for GO which we are calling the Final Fantasy XIV Online GO Harvesting Stick."

Indeed it is a very special stick. It enables you to create a true scythe, pickaxe, or fishing rod with your smartphone, bringing a new layer of immersion and exponentially increase mining resource potential.

Oh, and by the way, if you haven't realized it, it is still April Fool's day. Hehe.
