Teamwork is a-coming in the form of Squad, as Offworld Industries LTD officially announced today that the realistic, 100-player first-person shooter--which was successfully funded on Kickstarter--will be launching on Steam's Early Access program December 15, 2015.

This means that aspiring soldiers who have been considering pre-purchasing the Squad Leader tier and wanting to dive into the Founders program are on a time limit--the devs will be ending the tier and program at Midnight PST on November 30, 2015.

Still available, the Founders "Squad Leader" Package offers the following:
  • Founder Patch in-game on your soldier (Delivery date TBD)
  • Founder Tag in the Community Forums
  • Exclusive Alternate Weapon Skins (AK74 and M4)
  • Digital copy of the Squad soundtrack
  • In-game name in Credits
Need more convincing? Well, for early birds, the current pre-order price for a Steam Early Access key is only $30 USD until November 30, but those who decide to wait until release will have to pay $10 USD more.

And if you somehow need more persuasion, the Early Access release will unveil two new maps--a 16km^2 map that's based on an actual area in Afghanistan, and a combat training map featuring a firing range and close quarter combat tools to help players learn all there is about tactical squad-based shooting.

Two new factions, the Russian Ground Forces and irregular Militia, will be introduced, bringing the total number of factions to four, the number of maps to five, and four game modes. Planning to stick around for more info? Curious about the modes? Well:
  • Advance and Secure--this is a single or multi-latticed conventional vs conventional objective-based game where building your base and providing supplies plays secondary to fulfilling your objectives.
  • Conquest--this is exactly what it sounds like. Basically, conventional and irregular forces battle for control of all objectives at once, all experienced in the river valleys of current conflict zones.
  • Insurgency--this is a conventional vs. insurgent game mode, in which conventional forces must rely on machines to infiltrate and destroy insurgent weapon caches. Insurgents, on the other hand, must rely on tactical advantages to destroy the conventional forces' reinforcements.
  • Territory Control--this is a conventional vs. conventional or conventional vs. insurgent brawl, where conventional squads must gain complete control of terrain and towns, but at one square meter at a time.
Today, also marks the release of the first song from the game's soundtrack, titled Lost Squad by Scott Tobin. This song will be featured during the streaming and highlight videos during the inaugural clan vs. clan tournament beginning December 5.

This is no Call of Duty, folks. This is no Call of Duty.
