We recently reported on a leak indicating a Spyro the Dragon remaster. Now that information has been confirmed true, as Activision announced the Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

The remake is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 21, following the success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Like with N. Sane, this game features the first three Spyro games, Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. All of which will be remastered in a new HD engine.

Originally developed by Insomniac games, who are currently developing the 2018 Spider-Man game, the trilogy remaster will be handled by developer Toys for Bob.

Activision boasts that the trilogy is remade from the ground up, in a press release. From new graphics to recreated cinematics, players can expect a faithful recreation of the classic games, with extra pizazz. Activision promises full analog stick support and smooth camera handling and a re-imagined version of composer Stewart Copeland's soundtrack.

Based on what we've seen, this will be a fantastic remaster. Dare I say this series needed it more than Crash did, and I personally prefer the Crash series.
