The Scare 'Em Up genre is a unique one, but can be quite entertaining. Because of its 500-unit success sold on the mobile platforms, Swedish developer Modesty announced that their hit The Spookening has arrived on PCs everywhere.

A bit about The Spookening - It's a Scare 'Em Up 3D game representative of Tim Burton's style. You are pretty much cursed - forced to die every night and become a ghost. However, you do have the ability to resurrect, but only if you're able to scare the local villagers silly and nab their soul power during the midnight hour.

The setting, Clifftown, is haunted, and you enter as Hero Hermans' ghost. You must to use your own wits and items in your vicinity to scare off villagers.

This quirky little top-down game is available at the Humble Store for $5.95. It is currently on Greenlight on Steam, so if you have tried the game and thoroughly enjoy it, you should give it a thumbs up.

Though I am happy of Modesty's success, 500 units seem a bit small...
