Terraforming entire planets has just become possible thanks to the recent Ascent update Fluffy Kitten's Ascent, the largest space-themed MMO to date, has released a major update that allows players to terraform planets.

Unfortunately, initial terraforming will only be accessible as a Kickstarter reward via a handful of devices on small planets, but after awhile, players will be able to undertake massive terraforming in order to spread humanity across the galaxy.

Just last week, Ascent introduced major graphical improvements to the clouds and atmospheres of planets so players are able to visually determine the types of gasses in atmospheres of alien planets.

Ascent is a space-based MMO with focuses on building, trading, exploring, mining, science-driven features, and politics. PvE combat is constantly being developed, and there is much to explore - to be specific, 270 billion stars and over a trillion planets. There is scientific modeling used to craft realistic planets, suns, moons, asteroid fields, and black holes.

Currently in Early Access, the game offers the ability to gain a myriad of skills like asteroid mining and gas harvesting, colony management, and the ability to interact with galactic politics in hopes to possibly convince leaders to construct hypergates to ease travel and establish a tight-knit economic relationship.

The story?

"Humanity has fallen. The once prosperous people commanded the stars to do their bidding now find themselves at the mercy of a ruthless entropy. With just eight systems it will be up to every capable pilot to help end starvation, rebuild factories, and begin restoring humanity to its rightful place as commanders of their destiny."

You can purchase Ascent on Steam for only $19.99. You can also try the game with the Unity Webplayer Demo here.
