We might see a price tag for the average consumer's last hope: the PlayStation VR. After HTC revealed the Vive to be a hefty $799, a lot of people were understandably bummed. But unfortunately, VR tech is expensive. Well, it seems as if Sony might reveal more details on the upcoming VR headset on March 15, 2016. During then, the press is invited to a hands-on event in San Francisco, CA. There will probably tech demoes and games ahoy there.
Now I'm curious about the price, as Sony has claimed it would be no more expensive than a console. This could range anywhere between $400--the price of a PlayStation 4 at launch--and $600--the price of a PlayStation 3 at launch. I have a feeling it will be in the middle ground, but the thing is, the specs are weaker than the Oculus Rift, which is going for $600. Sony is also known to sell their consoles at a major loss, relying on the hardware. So we could potentially see $400 as the price point. If that's the case, well... sign me up. Even $500 would be fine with me (give or take a ton of trade-ins of previously owned games).
I'm still interested in what the PlayStation VR will bring for its lineup. They claim to have over 100 games in development for VR, and we've seen some interesting titles so far, i.e. Ace Combat 7.
