The PlayStation Classic, due to release on December 3, will come with 20 games digitally pre-installed on the console. When first released, the only confirmed titles were Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. This sparked a concern in the community that they'd have an unimpressive selection. Why else would they not tell you the whole line up? Such speculation was squashed earlier today when Sony released the full list of games:
- Battle Arena Toshinden
- Cool Boarders 2
- Destruction Derby
- Final Fantasy VII
- Grand Theft Auto
- Intelligent Qube
- Jumping Flash
- Metal Gear Solid
- Mr. Driller
- Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
- Rayman
- Resident Evil Director's Cut
- Revelations: Persona
- Ridge Racer Type 4
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Syphon Filter
- Tekken 3
- Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six
- Twisted Metal
- Wild Arms
Our first guess to why this may be is because of licensing. When you use licensed music or IPs, you pay a hearty sum to keep them. If they wanted the bring back Tony Hawk, they'd have to reinstate those music agreements again. And with Spyro and Crash both with modern renditions appearing in the modern day, it makes sense to omit them.
The PlayStation Classic will release on December 3 for $99.99. It comes with the 20 games listed above, as well as two controllers.
