A couple of days ago, TeamVVV has reported that many pre-order holders have received pre-order cancellation messages from Sony:
"On 30th August 2016 we regrettably announced that the release of Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed until 2017. We do not have a new release date at this time. We have, therefore, decided to cancel your pre-order and refund your pre-order payment.
"Once we have a new release date for Gran Turismo Sport we will offer a revised pre-order for it on the PlayStation Store at the earliest opportunity. Thank you for your custom and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused."
So what could this possibly mean? If the delay was short - say just a few months - then surely the pre-orders wouldn't be cancelled, right?
Well, just how long would the delay be? Possibly a year? Or perhaps even longer? Granted, the title looks to be a strong hit given the impressions, but that doesn't mean everything about the game is perfect. There is plenty left to develop and polish, which would probably take longer than anticipated to complete.
Nevertheless, this is at least good news for those who want to use the money toward something else.
It is still highly important that we must bid the old release date of November adieu.
