As you might be aware, at this exact moment the Unites States is in the process of blowing up again, because my nation is nothing if not an endless series of self-destruction and explosive rage thinly veiled behind the veneer of an actual civilization. This time, people are outraged by the fact that our cops appear to be a power-abusing, racist murderers, and are generally of the mind that they would like them to not be.

So, people are protesting and/or rioting, our president is urging cops to arrest and kill people, and Sony was supposed to livestream some details about the PS5. And Sony, in a rare sign of humanity, has decided that maybe now’s not the best time to be talking about their recently whitewashed gaming system.

Over on Twitter, they said this:

“We have decided to postpone the PlayStation 5 event scheduled for June 4. While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard”.

Classy. Reasonable. Respectful. They don’t even try to inject themselves into the conversation, they just stepped back so they won’t take an inch of the spotlight currently being shone on the small civil war breaking out between American law enforcement and the citizens they’re supposed to protect.

Here’s where things get a bit baffling: people are complaining about it. Actual human beings are complaining that they’ll have to wait a few more days to see PREVIEWS of video games. It’s not even as if these games are having their releases delayed or postponed. Just the previews are being postponed. And people are getting upset about it. With at least one twitter user saying Microsoft would “never” do this, and thus they’re getting the new Xbox instead.

Christ.
