We hope youre ready for more exclusives. Sony has established a new business partnership that gives them partial ownership of the parent company of From Software, the studio behind the Dark Souls games.

According to a report by VideoGameChronicle, the Kadokawa Corporation outlined a new financial alliance between themselves, Sony Corp, and CyberAgent. This agreement gives the other two parties a 1.93% stake in the company.

The partnership is supposed to "maximise the value of the abundant IP that [Kadokawa] already owns." Kadokawa purchased From Software back in 2014. So in a down-the-chain way, this can include the Dark Souls franchise.

Sony and From Software have had a close relationship for a long time. A majority of the games theyve developed have been for PlayStation consoles, including exclusives like Demon Souls and Bloodborne.

While this new partnership doesnt mean that all new From Software games will definitely be console exclusives, it at least implies that there will be more of them in the future.
