Sony Is Preparing for Two-Step Verification Feature

How long has it taken Sony to do this? Years!?

It's about damn time. PlayStation Network is finally receiving the two-factor authentication, which would definitely help with the random hacking issues gamers worldwide have succumbed to. Funny enough, I know a couple people who have had their accounts hacked despite them being careful with their information. Anyway, the company has confirmed the two-factor authentication with Polygon today.

According to a Sony representative:

"In order to further safeguard our users and their accounts, we are preparing to offer a 2-step verification feature."

Unfortunately, the representation didn't mention a time for the release but more details will surface soon enough. Funny enough, the two-factor authentication on the PlayStation 3's 4.80 firmware update, though PSN doesn't offer it yet.

Again, it's about time that Sony has done this, considering the few outages the company has suffered in the previous years. Microsoft, on the other hand, already jumped the gun, implementing two-step verification three years ago.

Chop chop, Sony. Chop chop
