Nioh is the most recent brutal/hardcore action RPG game that bears a striking resemblance to the Dark Souls series made by FromSoftware. While it was initially perceived as a Dark Souls rip off, it's quickly shown its uniqueness and has gathered very positive reviews from both critics and players.
Recently, speedrunner Distortion2 has set the world record for fastest completion of the game (main story missions only) at a remarkable time of 1:36:51. Distortion2 also holds the third fastest completion time in Dark Souls 3 and has recently taken the second place spot in Resident Evil 7 in the any-percentage category.
So while most average gamers are struggling to even get through the entirety of Nioh in general, Distortion2 is making an absolute mockery of the game, like most speedrunners tend to do. Instead of dipping your head in shame of your capabilities, take Distortion2's achievement as homework, and take notes on his strategy.
At the time of this article publication, Distortion2 holds the world record, but since Nioh is a very new, fresh release, there are without a doubt challengers waiting to de-throne him as we speak. As time passes, patches released and bugs fixed, I'm confident in saying that this time will definitely be improved upon, either by Distortion2 himself or other speedrunners alike.
