Smash Bros Ultimate's Online Custom Stages are Full of Trans Rights

The community said Trans Rights.

It's an unfortunate truth that the video game community hasn't been the most open and accepting of other sexes and identities that aren't "white male." But it's getting better and people are more accepting than they used to be. One unexpected example of this is with the recent Super Smash Bros Ultimate update, where Trans Rights based custom levels are making their place online.

Last night, Nintendo pushed out an update to the popular battle fighting game, Super Smash Bros Ultimate. This update added the first of the DLC fighters Joker (from Persona 5), as well as a new Custom Level creation option. Players could even upload these levels online for others to download and use on their own consoles.

Most of the "Most Popular" stages are about what you would expect, Undertale references, Tik Tok/YouTube memes, and impressive art. If you search by the right keywords, you can see more specific results. What we didn't expect, however, was the multitude of Trans Rights based levels that would appear.

First reported on by Laura Kate Dale, there is a multitude of stages dedicated to transgenderism and the promotion of equal rights for them. It varies from flat platforms to characters with flags, some have rainbows, but nearly all of them have the trans flag on them. Dale also remarked that a Trans Rights stage can be found not far from the top of the "Most Popular" filter.

The Trans Fights stage and the one with the cursive writing are my favorites.

It's good to see such a wave of positive content creation for the LGBT community. It will help create a more positive and healthy perception of gaming culture.
