In an unexpected update, Super Smash Bros Ultimate has a new stage to fight on. Introducing Short Battlefield, a smaller variation of the traditional stage.
The popular party fighting game for the Nintendo Switch received an update recently, bringing the latest version of the game to 8.1. The major component of this update is a new stage of all things.
Short Battlefield is a variation of the classic stage, Battlefield. While they cosmetically look the same, the Short version is smaller in size and removes the top-most platform. The official patch notes remark that the two floating platforms are also a bit closer together. Players have also remarked that the blast zone (the area outside the map that results in a player knock out) is smaller.
To go with this, a new option has been added to online play, allowing players to set Short Battlefield Only on their Priority Rule settings.
The update also comes with the standard array of quality updates. The minor changes to improve quality type stuff.
Short Battlefield is the 1v1 stage that we didnt know we wanted. The smaller size means that action between two players will be more compact and tense. It also means that a knock out will be easier to accomplish, putting a higher priority on damage and finishing moves.
This is a nice update. Its a shame that it happened so late.
