Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a cult classic from a decade ago, but according to creator Sam Barlow, it might get a sequel.

First reported by AsWePlay, game creator Sam Barlow recently posted a tweet, implying that they are actively working on pitching a follow up to the game:

TFW an interviewer asks what you'd do to make a Shattered Memories follow-up today but you can't tell them because you're currently pitching that thing

To many fans of the franchise, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a much-beloved classic. It took the original story and worked it in an engaging and unexpected way. Like the first game, it follows the story of Harry Mason as he searches for his lost daughter. Unlike the original, however, it focused less on combat and action and more on psychological horror and new story altering game mechanics.

In the years since Shattered Memories, Barlow has seen success with games like Her Story and Telling Lies. Their current project is known as Project A███████ a horror thriller game developed in collaboration with Half Mermaid. We think its another FMV style game, but to be honest, we aren't totally sure. Barlow made sure to mention that the previous tweet was not in reference to this project.

NB: this is *not* Project A███████ (also spooky and awesome) it's the next next game. Forcing your entire network of friends and acquaintances to wishlist P█ is a (free!) downpayment on the SHSM successor, also known as Project Door Peek

Where the real complication lies is with the intellectual property ownership. Silent Hill is owned by Konami, a company with a history of neglecting their game IPs and being uncooperative with developers (lookin' at you Kojima). So while Barlow may be pushing for a follow up game, there's no certainty that it'll actually happen. And if it does, it might not actually be a Silent Hill game. Either way, time will tell.
