Silent Hill 4: The Room has received a PEGI rating for PC, implying that the popular horror title will be revived on a new platform in the near future. A statement we now know to be true.
The information was brought to light by Japanese games news platform Gematsu. They noticed that the Pan European Game Information, commonly known as PEGI, has a listing for Silent Hill 4: The Room on PC. The listing appears to have been registered in February of this year, marked as recommended for those above the age of 18 due to graphic violence. Considering the original game, which was released on PS2, Xbox, and PC back in 2004, this has started new suspicion that the game would be re-released on modern PC platforms.
The current speculation is that this will be part of Konami's recent push for releasing classic titles on PC. They recently published Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, and Contra on GOG.com as part of a collection. Perhaps a number of Silent Hill titles will be following suit. If that's true, then we can expect the game to cost $9.99.
While it earned positive but otherwise unremarkable scores from critics at the time of release, Silent Hill 4 developed into a cult classic of sorts, becoming one of the most acclaimed games in the series by fans. It broke some of the traditional formula of the games, taking place outside of Silent Hill (the town) and instead focusing on a man named Henry as he experiences a number of supernatural events trying to escape from his own apartment.
Silent Hill 4: The Room is not currently available in a digital format. But maybe soon? Stay tuned.
UPDATE:
Sure enough, Silent Hill 4: The room has appeared on GOG.com for $9.99 as part of Konami's collection. The article has been updated accordingly.
