Well, Nintendo certainly has been busy as of late. Maybe it's trying to make a lot of noise to cover up for Miyamoto saying casual gamers were pathetic, make people forget that was a thing… but then, it's infinitely more likely that's just a coincidence. Oh well, my dreams of a grand conspiracy will have to wait another day.
Meanwhile, who likes new fighter reveals for Super Smash Brothers?
Yep, that's Swordsman Shulk, from Xenoblade Chronicles, officially joining the Super Smash Brothers Roster. It's pretty exciting (and kind of wearying to have ANOTHER ‘dude with a blade' join the fray) especially considering how much people like Xenoblade Chronicles (It was one of the games Nintendo had no plans of releasing in America until Operation Rainfall became a thing). But what's more exciting is that it seems to validate the earlier leak that predicted Shulk would be a playable character, along with Bowser Jr, Ness, the Dog from Duck Hunt, and R.O.B.
But as a quick side-note, it's not all sunshine and rainbows for Nintendo: it was recently revealed that Nintendo of Europe had to lay off 320 employees as "measures to better enable the European business to adapt to the rapidly changing business environment". So it seems Nintendo isn't out of its financial troubles just yet, even with all the good news and press circling around it.
Let's extend our well-wishes to those let go and hope they find new jobs soon.
