The idea of it is cooler than the actual toys, really.

Grab your shovel and get ready to scale the meat mountain. Arbys is running a new promotional event with the hit indie adventure game Shovel Knight.

The official YouTube account of Yacht Club Games, the developers behind Shovel Knight, recently uploaded a new promo trailer. In it, various characters within the game, including the titular protagonist, encounter roast beef sandwiches, sodas, and salads. Yea, its as silly as it sounds.

Its to promote what is essentially a new toy line that will come with Arbys Kids Meals. Each meal comes with a launcher token and each token comes with a DLC code for Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove for Switch or PC.

Treasure Trove is essentially the complete edition for Shovel Knight, including all past DLC expansions and a collection of additional content. Were not entirely sure what the DLC codes with the tokens will provide exactly.

To be frank, the toy component of this is pretty underwhelming. Even as a kid, launchers were never tremendously entertaining. Yet again, fast food kids meal toys were never really the pinnacle of fun, were they? And to be fair, the appeal here is clearly on the digital connection to Shovel Knight and not the physical toy itself.

While we arent exactly going to rush over to the nearest Arbys, were happy to see this partnership, for Yacht Club Games. Shovel Knight started as an indie game on Kickstarter and grew into one of the biggest indie titles of this generation, getting Amiibos, and even becoming an assist trophy in Super Smash Bros. Theyve achieved a level of success with Shovel Knight that nearly all independent developers could only dream of. Were sure anyone in their position would love to work with Arbys like this.
