Been wanting a game where you're not always thrown into the pit of a dragon, screaming for dear life as you're frantically waving a sword around? Perhaps you want a more relaxing game where you're not dealing with such a scaly foe but instead dealing with the most dangerous foe of all: the customer. Excalibur-published Shoppe Keep is a unique take on shop management--though many players prefer the feel of heart-pumping, difficult battles, some prefer to help adventurers on their journey to slaughter all that is evil... or slaughter all that is good. You don't know exactly what your weapons would be used for, after all.

Let's delve into the game a bit:

Shoppe Keep is a title that allows players to take control of a wares shop. Not only will you be able to set prices, maintain the cleanliness of a shop, and grow an indoor garden, but you will be able to serve a variety of customers that take on different classes. For example, if you plan on selling to a wizard, you'd best not suggest a blade but instead a staff.

Not only will your shop undergo the wear and tear of busy greaves and boots, your wares will too as they are browsed and touched. Keep in mind that wear and tear will not be the only issue to worry about--thieves are lurking everywhere, with glimmering eyes set on the shiniest of objects. Luckily, you will be have a lightning spell or your sword at your side to intimidate/drive away.

Oh, there's also barbarians. They will definitely come in and try to destroy everything in the store. So make sure to drive them out before your shop becomes nothing more than rubble!

To summarize, Shoppe Keep will feature:
  • The ability to manage your own shop, order stock, and setting prices to sell to the customer.
  • The ordering of special items to design your shop with.
  • Unlockable perks in the skill tree.
  • A nifty Helper Bot to assist you with collecting items and driving away thieves.
  • Your very own sword and lightning spell to drive away the "baddies."
  • Wear and tear on items and the shop itself.
  • Over 30 scenarios.
  • A free-play mode.
  • And finally, a morning, lunch, and afternoon cycle that correspond to rush hour periods.

This first-person management simulation seems worth checking out, especially for $4.49 (Special Promo). Currently, Shoppe Keep is available on Steam's Early Access for $4.49, though after August 27, it will be priced at $4.99.
