Unless they're poor.

It was only a few months ago that we knew almost nothing about CD Projekt Red’s latest game, Cyberpunk 2077, outside its name, some cool art, and the very reasonable assumption that it wasn’t secretly the Witcher 4. But when CD Projekt Red finally broke it’s silence around the title, what followed wasn’t so much a trickle of news as it was a downpour. Seems a day can’t pass where we don’t learn something new about the game… and fans don’t eat it up eagerly.

This is largely thanks to interviews, which producer Richard Borzymowski gave to USGamer recently. And in that interview, he made it clear that if you plan to fight the law in CD Projekt Red, you’d better be prepared to do it in the slums, or die for it.

"In Pacifica (one of the poorer areas) you could probably shoot someone, and if nobody would see then nobody would care. If you would do that in the City Center you would probably get some law enforcement. Because those areas are way more patrolled. The crowds will act and dress differently. You might hear more languages, for example Japanese might be a prominent language, because the Japanese are considered upper class in the universe."

And if you do shoot someone in the city center, he was polite enough to list all your options:

"Your options are to run away, fight them and then run away, or fight them, fight them, fight them, and then die.”

Kind of sounds like Grand Theft Auto, doesn’t it? I guess when Keanu Reeves told us to burn down the city, he wasn’t being literal, considering that would probably get the attention of these unkillable super-cops.

Still, I guess it makes sense that if you plan to shoot someone, there should be consequences.
