Nintendo first revealed the Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem crossover about two years ago, where it got a very uninspired trailer that showed us a bunch of the original Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei characters without any context or clues as to what exactly the game would contain.  The trailer wasn't exciting, but the idea of the crossover was enough to make people excited, and even after two years of silence about the game and its development people were extremely excited to hear more from Nintendo.

Well, at yesterday's Nintendo Direct (which, thankfully, was not a April Fool's Joke) we got to see our first meaty Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem trailer, and not only does it answer a ton of questions, it looks awesome as all hell.  Check it out.

So, this trailer, while in Japanese, does show us quite a bit; for one, it seems we're getting a whole new cast of characters, rather than a best of the best mash-up. Secondly, the gameplay more closely follows Shin Megami Tensei's party turn-based combat system than Fire Emblem's tactical overhead system.  Thirdly, it's got a lot of love for neon and revealing clothes, and finally I'm sorry this looks so cool. I know technically Super Smash Brothers was the proper console seller for the Wii U but this makes for a really strong second act, what with how popular both franchises are and how awesome this looks.

Granted, if you're not a fan of JRPGs, or the aesthetics of the trailer, then I guess this won't do much to move you, but still, at least for me dang, son, I'm pumped.
