Sometimes, it's best for games to be delayed. Okay, more like most of the time. Nintendo is known for delaying its games for the purpose of polishing: after all, a delayed game is better than a rushed game. When Nintendo announced a new Zelda title for the Wii U three years ago in 2013, we were originally met with excitement, but unfortunately, we were met with constant delay. For instance, we were supposed to receive it this year, but it was pushed back, but when was an issue. Perhaps this year? Nope, not happening. Unfortunately, the title won't release until 2017, and it was speculated that the purpose for this was because Nintendo wanted to launch the game simultaneously for the Wii U and the upcoming NX. Well, apparently that rumor was partially correct.
According to an interview with IGN, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto finally revealed the reasons for the delay: technical difficulties as well as a simultaneous release.
"Also, when we thought about developing a Zelda game for the NX, it would have to be way further down the life cycle of the system. And this game, rather than really focusing on the unique features of the Wii U, it's really a game you sit down and get into. There was a change in direction, so we decided to develop for both consoles a while ago."
Well, it'll be worth the wait, I'm sure. Check out the video right here:
