It's a wonderful story to hear of: someone pours their passion into supporting a game they absolutely love (i.e. crafting an HD remaster or localization), only to sooner or later be offered a job by the company. To them, it's the equivalent of shouting, "YEA! I'm going to Disney World!"
This latest dream occurred with the hiring of a 3D Graphic Designer who has worked on the Shenmue HD fan project for over four years. South Korean NoconKid, who was behind the HD fan project that aimed to recreate the classic original title in Unreal Engine 4, has recently been hired by Ys Net to work on Shenmue III. Unfortunately, this means that the fan project is probably on an indefinite hiatus (the project has been in development for over four years), but the good news is that there is a reliable and passionate 3D Graphic Designer working on Shenmue III.
According to Ys Net, Shenmue III won't be out for quite some time--give or take 2017--but still, this is great news, especially since this designer has crafted better models of Ryo than what was featured on the Kickstarter.
Still, congrats to NoconKid!
