Shenmue 3 is the long awaited and anticipated sequel to what became one of the most universally favorited game franchises ever. It has gathered somewhat of a cult following, and its Kickstarter initiative managed to raise over $6 million from close to 77,000 backers. In a video, project director Yu Suzuki announced that Shenmue 3 will be pushed back to the second half of 2018, instead of this year.

In the video, he explains that because of "new technologies," Shenmue 3 is becoming something more impressive and beautiful than he could have ever imagined. Shenmue 3 will be releasing on both PC and PlayStation 4 in late 2018, and it's bound to be something special. Although delays are usually disappointing, Shenmue 3 has been in development for a couple years now, and there's nothing worse than an incomplete, crowdfunded game. Something tells me its hardcore fanbase will understand.
