So rejoice! Though it's not exactly 100 percent confirmed. I should probably point that out. The cult classics was talked about Sega Europe.
A fan asked about an HD remaster of Shenmue, which released in 1999, and Shenmue 2, which released back in 2001.
The response? Well, according to Dan Sheridan:
"Of course we would love to release these tomorrow. Sadly, it's not as simple as porting the games to the currtent platforms, as we would need to ensure that any HD remaster live dup to the quality of the original titles. And with games as immersive as Shenmue 1 and 2 there are further complications from license products that were included in the original games. That said, we'd love to do it and are currently investigating how to make it a reality."
Shenmue was critically acclaimed, and unfortunately I missed out, since I didn't own a Dreamcast, but an HD remaster would be perfect in this case. After all, there were quite a few people that didn't own a Dreamcast.
Shenmue 3 is currently in the works, head by franchise creator Yu Suzuki. Shenmue 3 was crowdfunded on Kickstarter in 2015, managing to rack up more than $6.3 million.
